Are dash cams now a necessity?
With a growing number of cars on the road and insurance premiums on the increase, so called 'dash cams' are quickly becoming a standard feature in many motor vehicles.
Now accepted as evidence by the police and insurance companies real time footage could be the difference between getting a payout or not.
Installing a dash cam gives you peace of mind that in the unfortunate event of an accident you will be able to confidently prove who was at fault.
Take it from someone who knows - only last year I was hit from behind on the motorway by a car in excess of the speed limit. The car drove off and I was left on the hard shoulder with a badly damaged car.
Typically there were no traffic cameras (even though it was a busy stretch of motorway) and the only camera on that part of the motorway was facing the wrong direction.
Unfortunately the police had far more pressing concerns to find the culprit so case closed.
I am now waiting for my insurance premiums for this year.....anticipating a rise even though the accident wasn't my fault.
